Job Description
Summary:Will perform a variety of assignments associated with IT support to VPSI employees at company headquarters and for remote users. Design, setup, maintain, and troubleshoot automated desktop deployment services. Perform backup and recovery. Review and prepare documentation to support business continuity. Evaluate and provide recommendation on hardware and software for desktop and server support. Provide desktop support for VPSI employees as needed. Conduct support under ITSM.

Responsible for completion of helpdesk work orders and maintaining designated applications and servers
Installing, managing, and maintaining desktops, printers, scanners and other hardware for the location
Managing and maintaining local servers; ensuring daily tape backups and maintenance of tape backup system using ARC Serve
User account set up and maintenance in Active Directory; addressing user application and hardware issues
Addressing network issues
Logging, follow-up, and closing of trouble tickets in automated helpdesk system
Reporting of issues to helpdesk for escalation to appropriate technical personnel; contacting vendors regarding software and hardware issues; user-training, as needed
Provides technical support for a small LAN/WAN or for a section of a larger network
Researches network-level problems on the live network using network management tools. Corrects or suggests alternative solutions to problems
May assist in the evaluation of hardware and software, including peripheral, output and telecommunications equipment. May install network hardware and software, including network operating systems. Works on assignments that are moderately complex in nature
Interacts daily with supervisor, peer groups, and customers. Must be able to work independently with little supervision. Must be able to follow, update and create detailed written procedures. Provide documentation of daily tasks using predefined procedures and processes
Maintain security updates via WSUS
Provide assistance for facilities tasking: Moving of office furniture, correcting work space discrepancies (e.g. installing keyboard trays, installing white boards, etc.) Light to heavy lifting may be required.
Ability to plan prioritizes, organize and document work to maximize performance with little supervision.
Work with end users to collect, analyze, and evaluate business information system requirements.
Work with VPSI business units/programs to design and develop functionalities that meet business requirements.
Use judgment and creativity to design approach to meet requirements/specifications as provided by business development and project managers.
Responsible for estimating, creating, and meeting the timeline of the development for release.
Develop requirements documents, project plan(s) using MS Project, and scheduling.
Create technical design documents.
Perform system tests, user acceptance tests, and implement plan.
Test site and application to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects.
Review, analyze, and perform web site content updates in accordance with customer’s instructions, standards, and guidance.
Attend scheduled meetings and participate as lead or team member accordingly.

Bachelor Degree, or Associate’s degree plus 2-4 years of specialized experience in Microsoft products such as: Server 2003, Server 2008, Windows 7, Vista and the MS Office Suite and some exposure to Cisco network environments.
Completion of training classes towards any of the following certifications is a plus: MCSE 2003, MCITP 2008, CCNA, IP Office phone system, Security +, ITIL v3 Foundation.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD clearance
