Vector Planning & Services, Inc. (VPSI) formally announced today that Business Development operations would be consolidated under the appointment of Robert Draper, as the Director of Business Development. Robert joined VPSI as its twelfth employee in the summer of 1999 as an intern. Over his tenure, his responsibilities have included developing and executing the CT&E assessment for the NMCI program; implementing infrastructure for IT services in the Pacific Northwest, the Southwest, and Okinawa Japan. In his last operational role before returning to corporate staff, he served as the Base Network Operations Manager at Camp Pendleton where he managed a staff of over 100 delivering IT services to over 30,000 end-users.
Throughout all of his operational tasking, Robert has been involved in Business Development from the beginning. Often called on for his expertise in IT Service Delivery, or his mastery of Project Management, Robert has served in every role in the BD life-cycle. This appointment is a reflection of a corporate culture that empowers and encourages employee professional growth.
When asked about his appointment, “I look back across nearly 18 years with VPSI, and I am amazed at what I have been so fortunate to do, to be a part of, and to learn. Paul [Ilg, CEO, Vice Admiral USN (ret)] has been a very patient friend along the years, I have learned a lot about myself, about business, and about managing people from him. I am grateful for his friendship and the lessons that he has imparted on me, I wouldn’t be here today if it were not for him. It is also important for me to remember the man who saw something, took a chance, and gave me the opportunity- my friend and mentor- Vinh Vo. I miss him every day- but I will never forget the lessons he taught me- almost always in riddles. Thank you Vinh- this day means a great deal to me. I will continue to serve in the best interest of the Company, diligently and professionally. I also wish to thank my best friend- my wife Fali- without her patient understanding and support- none of this would have happened for me. She has been there for me, every step of the way.”
Robert and Fali have been married for 20 years and when he first started with VPSI, their son Jason (who is now serving in the United States Marines- a long family tradition) was only two years old. Raising their family has often felt like a “VPSI family” to which they give great credit to VPSI. Robert and his wife are avid weight lifters, Yoga enthusiasts, and train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with the Alliance Team in Eastlake, CA.
